Louis Edward Guidi Jr.'s Obituary
Our father, Louis Edward Guidi Jr, was gracefully snatched up by the wings of angels, leaving his 60 year old body & 80 year old heart, for all of us to admire as we say goodbye. With an unexpected death, exiting with no pain, no loss of dignity, Louis Guidi, went to join his mother, Blanche Mossett Guidi, and father, Louis Edward Guidi Sr on March 20th, 2014. Lou, fondly known as “Snookie” to family friends, was born October 13, 1933. He was a veteran and served our country in his late teens. He leaves his wife of almost 20 years, Wanda Critchfield-Guidi, with unfilled travels he was soon to encounter! He is father to Jerry Guidi, Debbie Guidi, Lori Stubblefield & Martin Guidi. Father in law to Rob Stubblefield, Lynn Guidi, Bob Roddick. He is grandfather to Grant Stubblefield, Anthony Guidi, Jessica Guidi, Jennifer Guidi, Patrick Guidi & Rachel Guidi. He is a first-time great grandfather to Sebastian James Uribe, with Jessica & James Uribe, where he spent many hours enjoying that sweet new baby-face! He is survived by his two siblings, Yvonne Evans & Ronn Guidi, and three lovely nieces, Denise Davila, Renee Weiland, & Michelle Rodgers. Great nieces & nephews include: Brian Evans, Steven Evans, Lauren Evans & Daniel Weiland.
He has truly outlined the “head-of-the-family” for all of us. His generous offerings of his personal & professional time, gifts, & support showered us all. With a keen, sharp mind being a claim to fame, we frequently tapped into his expertise for all things mechanical. He loved knowledge, the mechanics of how things work, and was able to expand on that in almost an “inventors” capacity: from modifying automotive engines (Ford drag-racing team), to repairing any and all things we, as normal people, usually replace in our lifetimes (washer, dryer, dishwasher, etc). His personal home having those items at 30-40 years old and well past the manufacturers claims, survived as he tinkered, made parts, added parts and improved on parts. Needless to say, family called Lou for his opinion before replacing/repairing or nowadays “checking the internet”.
He passes on his life-long trade & 97 year old business, Crane Heating & Air Conditioning with his son Martin & Debbie. He is well known & respected for being a legacy in the HVAC industry with knowledge & experience that surpasses the standards for “lets replace it with new parts.” It was his goal to continue working until the magic 100 years in business arrived in 2017. Still working at 80 years old, leaving daily to journey his 25 mile bike ride into the hills of Oakland and back again, our memories can be shared together by joining us to celebrate the life of Louis Edward Guidi Jr. on:
Saturday, April 5th 2014, 11am at St Lawrence O’Toole Church, 3725 High St, Oakland, Ca.
In lieu of flowers, Lou, Wanda & family would kindly accept donations to:
