To the O'Rourke Family, Philips Family….Dearest Kevin, Sandy, Thoren, Brittany & FamilySandy;.. the past few weeks when you shared with me of your mother's recent illness, I was so moved to get out the O'Rourke genealogy and continue to fill in the tree…. Little did I know until contacting you for more information I would hear word of her passing….Your mother has left a tremendous legacy of beauty and love not only through her children and grandchildren but to all those who have had the opportunity to know her. She shared love through her kindness and generosity throughout the years to family, friends neighbors as well as strangers. She taught us many lessons…..one that my brother Steve, her son-in-law shared with me many years ago……the measure of a life well-lived is not in how much money one has or what possessions they have accumulated, but rather through the lives they touched and the sorrow they leave behind. If the outpouring of sympathy on her loss is any indication, and it most certainly is, may that love come back to all of you ten fold..May you find peace and comfort in knowing that her loss is felt by all who knew and loved her. Kevin, Sandra, Thoren, Brittany & Family – My Condolences. Lived next to "Grandma" Lorraine, & "Grandpa" Jack, when we bought the house next to yours on the Court in '92. Being neighbors, she became automatic Grandma to my two Girls when they were born there. I know first-hand how much of a tenacious amazing independent Lady she was. I was always happy to help fix things around your house when she called – leaky Furnace Gas Valve in the Basement, Dryer – come to mind; for which I was undeservedly rewarded with a winter flannel jacket at one time, & a tool kit a different time. Jacket is somewhat frayed now, missing some buttons, but still have it as a back up in the car for the Girls. ?? Tool kit I ALWAYS use and has helped get me through so many projects & car repairs – WITH my Daughters… – to keep our ancient fleet going… ?? THANK YOU Grandma Lorraine for the Inspiration of your Life. I know you are in Heaven and happy with Family there – and keeping an eye on your Family still here.~ Alexander Schmitt, Oakland.
