Lorraine (Gomes) Haines
September 15, 1934 – August 28, 2013
Born to parents Jacinto Gomes (27) from Madeira, Portugal and Mary Souza (24) from Honolulu, Hawaii at
Alameda County Hospital, Oakland, Ca. At the time of her birth, her father was deceased and her mother was living at 2035 104th Ave., Oakland, Ca.
Lorraine was the fourth of four children. She attended St. Elizabeth High School, and Castlemont High School in Oakland.
She married her High School sweetheart George (Bill) William Haines, Jr. on September 17, 1952, just 2 days after her 18th birthday.
Other cities lived in were Fairfield, Concord, Livermore and El Sobrante, Ca. She last lived in Oak Grove Springs Care Facility, in Oakland, Ca.
She will be remembered as a loving, caring, compassionate person. Never complaining, even when in pain and suffering illness.
Her hobbies included gardening, sewing, knitting, crochet, drawing/sketching, jigsaw puzzles, word search/cross word puzzles, arts and crafts.
She enjoyed cooking, and making special meals and desserts for the family.
She is preceded in death by daughter, Diana L. Haines.
She is survived by husband, George (Bill) W. Haines; daughter, Carol L. Haines; sons, Dennis W. Haines (Wife- Patty), John D. Haines (Wife- June);
Half-Sister Ida Maxwell; Brothers, Ray Gomez and Mal Gomez; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and many other family members
and friends who love and adore her.
