Kruuse Caroe's Obituary
Kruuse Caroe was born in Paraguay on March 22, 1923 and died in California on November 17, 2014. He spent his school years in Denmark, was a resistance fighter in the Danish Underground during WWII, and earned his Industrial Engineering Degree in Copenhagen. He immigrated to New York in 1954 and then made his way to San Francisco, where he earned his degree in Business Management from UC Berkeley; married and started a family. He raised his children mostly in the State of Washington, and then returned to California in 1985. Kruuse was a dedicated family man, leader and mentor to many throughout his career as an executive and consultant in manufacturing industries. He was an avid and passionate yachtsman, won many championships, and in the Bay Area he also helped establish youth sailing programs in Sausalito and the Wednesday night race series for the Folkboat, Knarr and IOD fleets. Kruuse Caroe had 91 amazing years which he lived with humility, dignity, honor, purpose, and love. A true gentleman who left his mark on history and forever in our hearts and souls. He is survived by his wife, Carin Caroe; daughter, Cecilia; son, Lars Caroe; son-in-law, Michael Carrier; three grandsons; brother, Peter Caroe; sister, Anne Henningsen as well as countless family and friends, all of whom he valued deeply.
