Kirit Khodabhai Patel's Obituary
With profound sorrow and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kirit Khodabhai Patel, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and cherished friend, who departed this world on November 30, 2024, at the age of 68.
Born on April 17, 1956, in Uganda, Kirit was a free spirit, full of life, who embraced every moment with curiosity and joy. Above all, family was the cornerstone of his life. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his loved ones, always offering unconditional love, wisdom, and steadfast support.
Kirit had a remarkable gift for making people laugh and smile, brightening the days of everyone he met. His humor was effortless and infectious, leaving an impression of warmth and joy wherever he went.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Pratima, his loving children, Payal and Amit, and his adoring grandchild, Jayden, his sibling Rita, and a large circle of extended family and friends who held him dear.
Kirit found joy in life’s simplest pleasures—sharing stories and laughter, listening to music, cooking delicious meals for loved ones, or tending to his garden. He taught us to live with open hearts, embrace others without judgment, treasure family deeply, and approach life with humility and gratitude.
Kirit found immense joy in cooking and feeding others—it was his way of bringing people together and expressing love. In his honor, the family will be serving Indian street food (light snacks) from 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM outdoors at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, CA, prior to the Antim Sanskar (Hindu funeral rites). We invite you to join us in honoring his legacy through food, family, and friendship as we gather to remember him. Cooking and feeding others brought Kirit immense joy, and he would want us to gather in his memory to share food, love, and stories.
The Antim Sanskar will be conducted from 12:00 - 1:30 PM at the same location, led by a priest and observing traditional rituals. For those unable to attend in person, a live stream will be available.
Though he is no longer with us, Kirit’s legacy lives on—a life centered on love, laughter, and family. His unwavering devotion to his family and his ability to spread joy will remain an enduring source of inspiration. As we mourn his loss, let us also celebrate the life he lived and the love he shared so generously.
Om Shanti Om.
