Kethen was truly a visionary, inspirational and practical leader. I always remember his first call for pharm tech position, he asked me if I had any sterile compounding experience and I said no, then he said you have great background in pharmacy so no problem we will teach you. Indeed, he guided and mentored me to be one of sterile compounding technician here at UCSF.
I always admire his way of thinking which was bold rarely exercised by esteemed leaders. He sees a potential future growth in me, and he took a cautionary, but risker decision to hire me. Since then, he continued to encourage, motivate and inspire me to think big and to pursue my education as a pharmacist.
Kethen’s impact on my pharmacy career is tremendous. He is a legend. I will miss him.
It was a privilege to know and work for him here at UCSF. May his legacy continue to inspire future generations of pharmacists.
My deepest condolence to all the family.
Rest in peace!
