Kenneth Waldeck's Obituary
Kenneth Waldeck, loving husband and generous friend, passed away peacefully at 68, just days after having learned that he had an aggressive form of cancer.
Ken was born and grew up in Sacramento as the youngest of three siblings. He is predeceased by both parents and both siblings. He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, Paula. He also leaves behind his brother-in-law Frank, two nephews, Mike and Tim, and their families.
Ken graduated Summa Cum Laude from UCLA with majors in Mathematics-Computer Science and Geography. All it took was one class in Computer Sciences to change Ken’s trajectory in life. He had a long career in Information Technology, starting at Electric Data Systems.
Ken then worked for Kaiser Permanente IT for over 15 years, and retired from Kaiser in 2021. Even though his job title and responsibilities changed over the years as he moved into management, project management and consulting, his love of programming continued into retirement with plans for new programming projects.
He was just beginning to get the hang of retirement living in spite of COVID-19 restrictions — learning how to play electric guitar, and planning travels, as well as stargazing and listening to classic rock.
Ken will be greatly missed.
