Kenneth Robert Hernandez's Obituary
Kenneth Robert Hernandez (affectionately known as Kenny) was born November 16th 1949. He graduated Castlemont High School in Oakland, California in 1967. After his high school days, he went on to attend Laney College. He was then drafted into the army, and into the Vietnam War.
Kenneth was known for his welcoming smile, and his many personalities. He knew that he couldn’t solve life’s problems but he was always there to provide support when his friends and family were in need. If you needed something to eat, he would buy you a meal. If you were moving, he would pay for someone to pack you. If you needed to get somewhere, he would give you a ride. If you needed to talk, he would listen. He was always there to share a loving hand to anybody who needed it.
Those of you who knew Kenny, knew he loved baseball. Although he didn’t follow his first passion, he was determined to follow his second, and that’s when he began his career with the Berkeley fire department. After 3 years he transferred to San Jose fire department where he continued his career until he retired in 2008.
During his time as a firefighter he met Christina and from that union, his family became whole with 3 kids, Nicole, Dominque, and Manuel. These were his children, and he loved them dearly. Besides his immediate family, Kenny’s family included his fellow firefighters, with whom he had and unbreakable brotherhood.
His father Kenneth Sr. and his sister Andrea preceded Kenneth in death. Kenneth leaves to cherish is memory, his mother Lillie, his twin brother Reginald, his kids Nicole, Dominique, and Manuel, and his granddaughter Audrina, as well as his nieces and nephews, and his many friends.
