Kay Ann Strawder's Obituary
With deep sorrow and loving remembrance, we honor the remarkable life of Kay Ann Strawder, who passed away at the age of 77. Born January 25, 1948 in Oakland, California, Kay lived a life defined by learning, unwavering compassion and service.
Education was a cornerstone of her journey. She pursued knowledge with dedication, earning a Juris Doctor (JD) degree at Hasting Law School in San Francisco, CA, several Master’s degrees at Stoney Brook University on Long Island, N.Y., and her bachelor degree at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, CA, each institution shaping her into the brilliant and insightful person she became. For Kay, education wasn’t just about personal achievement—it was about gathering knowledge to contribute to the world around her.
The foundation of Kay’s unwavering compassion was her belief in GOD, the importance of the higher cause and its worldly community was reflected in her deep involvement with her church, where she found joy, peace and purpose in her faith.
Her career was a testament to her service for helping others. For 35 years, Kay served in the Department of Health and Human Services, dedicated her life to camaraderie with co-workers and work to advocate for the general public, i.e. women’s health. Her warm, compassion, and steadfast commitment touched countless lives, offering support in ways truly unmatched. During this time period, Kay also serviced in the Commissioned Corps of the United States Public Health Service where she reached the rank of Commander in the Navy and performed her duties diligently for her country.
Beyond her work, Kay loved traveling, finding peace and relaxation in the tropical beauty of Hawaii and the Samoa Islands. These destinations became places of tranquility, where she could immerse herself in the serenity of nature.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and impact that will never be forgotten. She is survived by her devoted family and cherished friends, including her beloved brothers John S. Strawder, Glenn G. Strawder and Bruce Wells.
Kay’s influence and kindness will forever be missed, but her spirit will live on in the lives she touched. May she rest in peace, knowing her dedication, love, and wisdom shaped the world for the better.
