Kathy Harris' Obituary
Kathy Harris, 82, passed away on July 27, 2024, in Alameda, CA. Born on June 17, 1942, in Portsmouth, Virginia, she moved to California, where she made a significant impact both professionally and in her community.
Kathy dedicated many years to Peralta Hospital, working in the Providence and Dietary Department, where she was known for her compassionate service and meticulous care. She was also a successful entrepreneur, owning and operating "Harris Design Flowers," a floral shop that serviced the Bay Area for 40 years. Her passion for flowers extended beyond her business as she was an active member of the San Francisco Flower Market.
Kathy's legacy continues through her children, Vernon Harris Jr., Eric Harris, Jean Harris and Tonie Harris, her brother, David Palmer, as well as her grandchild, Ariana Harris. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Vernon Harris, her son Kevin Harris, 3 sisters, Jean Sims, Marion Dixon, and Stephanie Palmer and her brother Tony Palmer.
The family has entrusted Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, CA, with the funeral arrangements. Kathy will be remembered for her generous spirit, entrepreneurial drive, and the beauty she brought into the world through her floral creations.
