Dr. Katherine Ann Neldner died with friends and family nearby in the early hours of August 31, 2023. She was 71, and had faced a four-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was the eldest daughter of Dr. Kenneth Neldner and L Read Obituary
I worked with Kathy when I was a nurse practitioner at Kaiser. I admired her. She was spirited, smart and did not put up with antics of those in administration, or other baloney. She was always ready to speak up, and to share her clinical wisdom, and supportive of me in my role. I will always remember the thoughful gift she and Stanley gave me for Christmas one year (a rare treat from colleague doctors in my 30 years)-it was a Books on Tape subscription to help relieve the tedium of my very, very long commute to and from work. Special person. My heart goes out to her family and friends for coping with the disease she had, and for her suffering. Peace to you all.
I was skimming articles when I noticed the one w/ the headline:”Infectious Disease Doctor Dies,” and her age—71. And I thought, “I won’t know her, she’s too old!”
Instantly, I recalled that I am 71, too, and moreover that Katherine Neldner and I were in the same class in medical school! I hadn’t seen her since graduation.

Kathy was a wonderful colleague. She was one of the few women physicians in a leadership role when I started my career with TPMG. I remember her wit, empathy and sharp clinical insights with fondness and appreciation. She is greatly missed!
Kathy's immediate and very outward warmness towards my wife Monyi Gadek from Kilimanjaro, Tanzania when we married 40 years ago made Monyi feel very much included in the Gadek family and more at ease in her new family situation. For that I will always remember her with a deep family love that continued for all the years we were together as a family, until her passing. Joe Gadek
