Katherine Dixon's Obituary
Katherine Dixon was born on June 12, 1952, to Helen and Carl Dixon in Oakland, California. She confessed Christ at the early age of 19, uniting with the Bible Fellowship Baptisit Church in Oakland, CA.
She attended Oakland High Scholl, where she received her high school diploma. Katherine later attended Laney College in Oakland, California, where she pursued her cosmetology license and later followed her passion for cooking.
Katherine met the love of her life, Wendel Stevenson Sr. From that union, she had three children: Tanesha Stevenson, NaQuethia Stevenson, and Wendel Stevenson Jr.
She worked for the Oakland Unified School District for 25 years, retiring in 2008. Katherine was a loving and kind person, cherished by many family and friends. She loved going to the Casino, listening to music, fishing, and watching movies with her grandkids and great grandkids. She had two best friends with whom she shared many laughs: Frankie Thomas and Quovadis Estelle.
Katherine departed this life on August 9, 2024.
She is preceded in death by her son, Wendel Stevenson Jr,; her parents, Helen and Carl Sr,;her sisters, Carolyn L. Dixon and Sadie Dixon; and her brothers, Carl W. Dixon, Aaron Dixon, and Fredrick Newman Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters: Genois Newman, Tanesha Stevenson, NaQuethia Stevenson, and Lori Wisner; her only living son , Frederick Newman; her sister, Jackie Dixon; her grandchildren: Latoya Franklin, Kamari Daniels, Felisha Newman, Frederick Newman Jr., Divinity Newman, Vincent Evans Jr.,Armani Caston Sr., Dae'sha Blount, Orlando Thomas Jr.,Wendel Stevenson III, Ahmeen Stevenson, baby Wendel Stevenson, Naveah Stevenson, and Kaliyah Newman; her great- grandchildren: Jamere Franklin, Khaleesi Moreno, Sanaa Bailey, Oriana Thomas, and Armani Caston Jr.; and her good friend, Tony Jackson.
