Karen Glatze's Obituary
Karen GlatzeJul. 1, 1950 – Nov. 18, 2013Resident of HaywardBeloved daughter, sister and aunt, Karen was called home to God unexpectedly, but peacefully, on November 18. Karen graduated from Oakland High School and San Francisco State University. Past employers included the Oakland Parks and Rec Department and Beneficial Finance. Her last, and most fulfilling job, was as Administrative Director of United Cerebral Palsy of the Golden Gate (UCP). Over her many years of service to UCP, Karen maintained an unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of people-with-disabilities, as was demonstrated in her efforts to make the Bay Area a place where people of all abilities could live to their fullest potential. Karen also immersed herself in her church community where she volunteered extensively. Although her life on earth was cut too short, her commitment to family, friends, animals, people-with-disabilities, and, most of all, God made her time spent here well worthwhile. A celebration of her life will be held on Dec. 14, 2013 at 10:00am at the First Southern Baptist Church of San Lorenzo. Remembering those things that were important to Karen, in lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to a charity of your choice.
