Kam Hai Lee's Obituary
Kam Hai Lee was born in 1921 and lived a very full 93 years. She
lived through the depression, World War II, and times of turmoil in China to
live in Hong Kong. When she was widowed in her 50’s, she immigrated to the
United States with her daughters as a family. She raised her daughters Rebecca
& Madeline and even had a hand in raising the grandchildren when they went
to work or school. Being a person of Christian upbringing, she gave a Jot of
herself to help their families and supported them in any way she can. Everyone
in the family called her Pau Pau because she spent many days to take care of
the grandchildren. As she put it, she raised them from when they were as small
as a worm.
She was blessed with good health and was very mobile for most of her
life. You can see in her pictures that even into her 80’s Pau Pau still took
vacations, cruises, bus tours, and visited many countries and continents around
the world. She always liked things clean and proper. For example, after eating
at the restaurant, the table in front of her had to be clean of all crumbs and
napkins. Pau Pau was very happy when she went to her favorite restaurant for
dim sum, eating peanuts and desserts, told stories from her past raising her
daughters, looking at photos, watching cooking shows, spending time on family
vacations, going to• church on Sundays, and always wanted to help around the
house. Pau Pau is survived by her daughters and their families, 3 grandchildren
and she even lived to see a great grandchild. Many of us who were privileged
to be in Pau Pau’s presence and kindness were witness to her light.
We will always remember her love and her spirit.
