June was born in Oakland to Llewellen Edward and Ethel Mary Howell on November 9, 1926. She went to high school at University High and graduated in 1944. She loved life, loved laughing, loved to dance, loved people, and loved being with her family. She was a member of the Diamond Athletic Club for close to 50 years, where she developed many lifelong friendships. “Life was a Cabaret.”
June is survived by her four children, David Harris (Sumiko) of Prescott AZ, Adele Torreano of Oakland, Nancy Harris, of Georgetown, Kentucky, and Steven Harris of San Ramon; seven grandchildren, Shane and Taiji Harris, Samantha and Jake Torreano, Lisa Sanchez, Laurel and Shannon Harris; and great grandchildren, Ra, Seneca, and Watende Torreano-Yazid.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Laurel, whose many hours of care-giving helped keep mom connected to her family and to who she was.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association, so that others might someday be spared the total annihilation of what makes life worth living.
