Juliet Oliva's Obituary
Juliet Oliva died on February 2, 2015 at the age of 98 at the Larkpark Residence in Oakland, CA. She is survived by her daughter Geraldine Oliva, two grandsons, Dylan and Eli Kersh-Oliva and son-in-law Paul Farber. Juliet was born January 12, 1917 in Staten Island, New York to Italian immigrant parents. She attended Port Richmond High School. She married Peter Oliva (1917-1997) in 1939. They had two daughters, Geraldine and Juliette (1947-1996). Before the birth of her two daughters she worked as a professional dressmaker. While raising her daughters she became active in a local PTA, serving as president and she was a Campfire and Brownie leader. During this time she also enjoyed working in ceramics needle point. She enjoyed ballroom dancing, theater and music. In 1980 she and her husband Peter moved to Alameda, California to be with their two grandsons and delighted in being able to share in their care and entertainment. She also mastered bridge, loved to square dance, took up golfing (which she continued into her late 80’s), volunteered at California Pacific Medical Center and enjoyed travel, visiting many countries in Europe and Scandinavia and South America. She always had great enthusiasm for life, had many friends and stayed very engaged with her grandsons. She will be sorely missed.
