Joseph Richard Payette's Obituary
Joseph Payette, an employee for the Nabisco Company for 30 years, died of pneumonia at Summit Medical Center in Oakland. He was 81. The native of Lowell, Massachusetts lived in Oakland since 1952 before he and his family moved from Central Falls, Rhode Island to California. He served in the US Army/Air Force. He was a member of Nabisco local union 125; volunteer with St. Vincent De Paul’s organization for 10 years picking up and distributing items to assist others; Leathercraft artist. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Payette; sons, James Payette of San Ramon, David Payette of Roseville; sister Elizabeth of Central Falls, Rhode Island; brother, Raymond Payette of Central Falls, Rhode Island; grandchildren, Greg Payette of Alamo, Janine Appleford of Sacramento, Meredith Payette of Roseville; great grandchildren, Mikayla and Justin Payette. There will be a vigil service at 7:00 p.m. at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, 4499 Piedmont Ave. 9:00 a.m. funeral Wednesday at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church in Oakland. Burial will be at San Joaquin National Cemetery.
