Johnella Barnett's Obituary
Johnella Barnett passed away on April 15, 2023, at the age of 93. She was born of the union of Veronica Cooper and John Simpson on May 22, 1929 in Mississippi. Johnella graduated from Oakland tech Highschool and was married to Hampton Barnett.
Johnella worked in Real Estate at Wells and Bennett and in the office of the Vice President of the University of California, Berkeley. She was a member of the Children's Home Society, the Fantastic Few, and Social Group. She had a passion for travelling, bridge, gardening, and just living a good life.
Mom was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church. She was very active in the Wednesday Bible Study which she enjoyed. She loved her Bridge Group at the Downtown Senior Citizens Building. She loved to travel and did a lot of it. My mother lived life to the fullest. She was loved by many, especially her daughter and grandson, and great grandson.
We are so happy that she is in Heaven and can see. She lost a lot of her sight. My mother was a very strong woman. She dealt with the world with elegance and grace. The lord has a special angel—my mother.
Johnella is survived by her daughter Rosalind Veronica Barnett and her grandson Joel Hampton Barnett, and great grandson Josiah Keith Barnett. Waiting for her in heaven, her daughter Malinda Faye Barnett, husband Hampton Barnett, siblings Otto Simpson, Aluaine Bernice (Simpson) Johnson, Louise (Simpson) Spencer, and Irma (Simpson) Sonders, and Stark Simpson.
