John Michael Manning's Obituary
John Michael Manning, aged 68, passed away suddenly November 10, 2024 in his Oakland, California home.
Mike was the son of the late Irene B. and George E. Manning. He is survived by his siblings, Karen Manning Bustin, C. Dianne Manning, Peter Manning, Richard Manning and David Manning. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
He grew up in the Boston, Massachusetts suburbs of Wellesley and Weston. He was a student at Weston High School and graduated from Newman Preparatory in Boston.
Mike had a lifelong, successful career in the music industry, starting with local bands in Boston and eventually becoming the guitar technician of Joe Satriani for nearly three decades. Among others, Mike also worked with John Butcher Axis, Foghat, Miles Davis, Chris Isaac, Sammy Hagar and Chickenfoot. He frequently toured throughout the United States and around the world. When at home, Mike enjoyed many adventures on his Harley with his friends.
Arrangements were made by Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, CA. Burial will be private.
Mike will be missed by his family and the countless people whose lives he touched.
