John Bozzone Jr's Obituary
John Bozzone Jr., age 77, passed away peacefully in his home on November 4, 2015. He was born on May 11, 1938 in Oakland, and lived there all of his life. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Maria Bozzone. John is remembered for his sense of humor, stories of world travel and love of all things family. He and his wife, Joan, recently celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary. John and Joan traveled the world together, going to 40 countries and making friends along the way. John was a hard worker, always kept himself busy and had been retired for 22 years.
His focus was on family, including his 3 children and 6 grandchildren, and his love for Italian cooking. Whether chopping garlic or making gravy for pasta in the kitchen, we will forever miss the wonderful Sunday meals that brought the whole family together. John was a proud Honorary Member of the Fratellanza Men’s Club and also a member of the Colombo Club, both in Oakland.
John is survived by his wife, Joan, his son, David (GoldenBoy) and daughters, Karen (Mouse) and Kathy (Lump). He was a loving and proud grandpa to six grandchildren: Sarah (Boober), Michelle (Munchkin), Amanda (Beaver), Luke (Mr. Scalini), Ava (Sunshine) and Diana (Toughy). He was a supportive father-in-law to Dan Raven and Axel Olmos.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate John’s life, beginning with the Rosary at Chapel of the Chimes Mortuary, 4419 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland on Monday, November 9th at 6:30pm. Viewing will begin at 4pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 30 Mandalay Road, Oakland on Tuesday, November 10th at 10am. Entombment will follow funeral at, Holy Sepluchre Cemetery in Hayward, CA. All are welcome to join the family at the mortuary prior to the services, beginning at 8:45am.
