Jinni Mue Tang's Obituary
The Lord called Jinni Tang, 85, home, on February 25, 2016, when she passed away peacefully surrounded by immediate family and relatives in her Oakland home. Jinni Tang was born February 22, 1931 in the Guangdong province of China.
She left her family village, with her oldest sister, to live in Hong Kong in 1955. While working in a garment factory, she met her future husband Fu Tang and married in 1962. In the spam of six years, they added four children to their family. Seeking a better future, the family immigrated to the United States in 1969 and settled in Oakland, CA.
Jinni was devoted to her family and sacrificially embraced her role as a homemaker, while balancing work as a seamstress, even owning her own sewing business for several years, and later worked as a nanny.
She had a deep abiding faith in Jesus and as long time member of the Chinese Independent Baptist Church of Oakland, she served there faithfully. She was part of the Women’s Missionary Group and delighted in visiting the shut-in’s weekly and preparing meals for gatherings.
Jinni is survived by her husband of 55 years, Fu Tang, and her four children: Arthur Tang (Diana), Joannie Tang, Ben Tang (Nancy) and Richard Tang (Helen) and eight grandchildren, Kelly, Lauren, Jacob, Tia, Jarod, Haley, Connor, and Audrey. Breanna preceded her to heaven.
Services will be held at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue in Oakland, 94611 on Friday, March 11, 2016 at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Chinese Independent Baptist Church of Oakland’s (www.cibc-oakland.org) or the American Diabetes Associates (www.diabetes.org)in Jinni’s memory.
