Jesus G. Perez's Obituary
Jesus Gonzalez Perez Resident of Oakland, CA Passed away peacefully on Monday, February 15th, 2010 at the age of 88 with the comfort of his son, David, and daughter-in-law, Angie, at his bedside. He was currently a resident of the Carlton Plaza in San Leandro. Jesus was born to Miguel and Juanita Perez in Teolcaltiche, Mexico, August 3rd, 1921. He was the oldest of 8 children, Philipe, Carmelo, Antonio, Angel, Rutila, Jose, & Manuel. Jesus was known as a dancer all of his life. First, as a young man in a Mexican dance troupe, and later at local dances. He came to the US in the 1942 where he stayed with his brother in Los Angeles until he migrated north to San Francisco. For most of his life he was in the automotive industry, where he took pride in this craft. He helped his son start Quality Body & Fender in 1979. Always a hard worker, he is part of the reason it is still a successful business today. He met the love of his life, Connie Perez, at Sweets Ballroom in Oakland in the late 40’s where he charmed her with his dancing and dapper style. Jesus loved to travel; Mexico, Hawaii, & Spain were some of this favorite places. While traveling, he could do some of some of his favorite activities, like taking pictures and making new friends. You could also find him at La Mexicana Restaurant and the flea markets; just follow his scent of cologne. He adored the markets; he would walk around, interact with people and buy their wares – sometimes just to help them out. Jesus epitomized his name; he was more than generous with people and was always there to help them out. He could be counted on, always offering love and support. To know him was to love him. Jesus loved his family; his wife, Connie, children, David, Richard, Josephine, Jessie and Becky and grand children, Anthony, Jacqueline, Michael, Renee, Freddie, Carrie, & Chris. Also his nephew Miguel his family, nieces, nephews, & Grand children.
