Jesse Ezell Wilson's Obituary
Jesse Ezell Wilson was born in Chatham, Louisiana on December 26, 1932 to John Henry Wilson II and Gertrude Davis Wilson, who both preceded him in passing.
Jesse relocated to Oakland, California where he attended and graduated from Albany High School. Soon after, he joined the United States Army, where he served his country. After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, he was employed with Mare Island Naval Shipyard for many years until his retirement. Jesse later met and married Mary Lou Rhinehart. From this union, they raised three beautiful children. A son: Cornell Wilson (Deceased), two daughters: Vanessa Wilson and Yolanda Chambers.
Mr. Wilson loved to travel back home to Louisiana to revisit his roots. He had a passion for gardening and enjoyed fishing. He was a long time member of Beebe Memorial C.M.E. Church in Oakland, where he served on the Usher Board faithfully until his illness caused him to step down from ministry.
Jesse entered into eternal life on December 11, 2017 leaving to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 58 years Mary Lou Wilson. Two daughters Vanessa Wilson (Oakland) and Yolanda Chambers (Texas). Two grandchildren: Carlos V. Chambers II (Maranda) (Texas) and Shelby Denise McClough (Oakland). Two great – grandchildren: Jacari Chambers and Carlos Chambers III (Both of Texas). Three sisters: Lessie B. Manard (Berkeley), Emma Wilson (Oakland) and Omega Thompson (Oakland). Two brothers: Woodrow Wilson (Oakland) and John Henry Wilson III (Washington). Sister – in – law: Marie Wilson (Oakland). A host of nieces & nephews and other relatives, friends and neighbors.
Jesse’s son Cornell Wilson, his brothers Ivory Lee Wilson & Howard Wilson and his sister Mae Atlee Waters preceded him in passing.
Jesse will be truly missed.
