Jerry Robinson's Obituary
Eulogy for Jerry Robinson (“J.R.”)
Today we gather to honor the life of Jerry Robinson, known to many as J.R. Born on August 19, 1960 in San Francisco, Jerry lived with humor, energy, and a deep love for his family. He was a devoted son, brother, father, and uncle who cared deeply and always looked out for those around him. Jerry is survived by his daughter Crystal Robinson, his siblings Jack Jr. Robinson, James Robinson, Dolores Robinson-Opia and Rose Robinson, his nephew Faaye Agiobene and niece La Toya Covos, a whole lot of other cousins and friends.
Jerry studied criminal justice at City College of San Francisco and worked in security, a fitting role for someone protective and caring by nature. He loved to fish, spend time with family, spend time at Lakeside Lounge and cheer on his Raiders—always quick with a laugh and never shy to say, “Go Raiders!”
His personality was funny, outgoing, inquisitive, and caring, and he lived life with joy. His last Facebook post captured that perfectly: A picture of Charlie Brown sitting on the beach with a taco and a drink, smiling with the words, “This is what I mean when I say I want a happy meal.” That was Jerry—finding happiness in the simple things and reminding us of all to do the same.
Jerry loved the Oakland Bay Area which has always been home. He was, however, looking forward to retiring in the coming years and making a move to the Houston area where his nephew and cousin reside but God had other plans for Jerry.
As we say goodbye, let us carry Jerry’s laughter, his love, and his spirit of joy with us. May he rest in peace, and may his memory continue to bring us smiles.
