Jerry L. Bass' Obituary
Jerry Bass of Vacaville passed away peacefully the day after his 94th birthday after a short hospital stay. He will be remembered by family and friends as a kind soul who loved to tell stories about his life and family. He enjoyed traveling and was proud that he had visited all seven continents, including Antarctica at age 82.
Jerry served with the Navy Seebees during both World War II and the Korean War. Jerry was a carpenter by trade and worked in construction first as a carpenter and later as a general superintendent until his retirement at 63. In his retirement, Jerry enjoyed building his own home, traveling, showing his horse Donna and driving his yellow Mustang convertible.
Jerry was also very active in church. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Oakland for 40 years and a member of the Valley Church of Vacaville for the last 30 years, where he oversaw a couple of major construction projects as a volunteer.
Jerry was predeceased by his parents, Lewis and Nora Bass; his siblings, Jim Bass, Alice Roberts and Gene Bass; and his nephews, Jim and Lu Roberts.
Jerry is survived by his nieces and nephews, Jim Bass (Nadene), Jan Bass (David), Juanita Petersen (Dale), Ed Bass (Patti) and Janeene Roberts; his sisters-in-law, Julia Bass and Joyce Bass; and his brother-in-law, Jesse Roberts. He is also survived by several great-nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held at Valley Church, 5063 Maple Road, Vacaville on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 11 am.
