Jenny Cabaltea Sonido's Obituary
Born October 11, 1950, Jenny was a lifelong resident of Alameda. Passed away suddenly in Alameda on April 11, 2007 at the age of 56. Beloved daughter of the late Primitivo and Erudita Sonido. Loving sister of Primo and Ron Sonido of Alameda, Joe Sonido of Placerville, Joe Ann Tuazon of Alameda and the late Eugene Sonido. Dear sister-in-law of Joyce Sonido and Amado Tuazon. Cherished auntie of Laura and Wesley Sonido, Melissa, Shaun and Allison Tuazon, all of Alameda, and Jesse Sonido of Placerville. Jenny attended Porter Elementary School, Alameda High School and San Francisco State University. She started her banking career as a teller at Wells Fargo in 1972. From there she went to work for Great Western Bank working her way up to Operations Manager, working in various branches in Oakland, San Diego, Redwood City and finally in Alameda at the Park Street branch, ending her Great Western career at the South Shore branch after 25 years. Her banking career continued at Bank of the West in 1998 where she was employed until her passing.Jenny, who never married, was known for her generosity, humor, and was passionate about helping others. She was a devoted auntie who spoiled her nieces and nephews every chance she could get. On September 11, 2001, Jenny was diagnosed with Leukemia. She never let her illness get in the way of her love for her family, friends and the Oakland A's as she was a loyal fan. She fulfilled one of her dreams in 2006 by attending the A's Spring Training in Phoenix for a week. She also enjoyed watching musicals and going to Disneyland. Jenny was very active with the Lymphoma and Leukemia Society, participating in the annual Light the Night walk to raise funds for the organization. A Memorial Service and Celebration of her Life will be held on Monday, April 23, 2007 at 6:30 PM at St. Joseph Basilica, 1109 Chestnut St., Alameda. Private family interment will take place at a later date.
