Jeanette Elliott Tripp
Dec. 31, 1925 – July 13, 2014
A heart as big as all outdoors, she could give no more. Always putting others first, she was welcome in any crowd. After 68 years of marriage, she is survived by her husband, Marv Tripp, brothers Wallace and Donald Elliott, children Cynthia, Thomas, and Steven Tripp, by 8 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
She lived most of her 88 years in Oakland and was a graduate of U.C. Berkeley. She taught in the Oakland schools and after retiring, she continued serving as a tutor. She served as Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Oakland. She was an avid reader of mysteries, she quilted blankets for her children and grandchildren, her garden reflects her pride in her home. She was a prolific letter writer and sent countless care packages to grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on August 9th at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church at 2619 Broadway in Oakland.
Donations may be made in her memory to The Cancer Society ,The First Presbyterian Church, or to a charity of your choice.
