Janine Denise West's Obituary
Janine (J9) Denise West was born August 29, 1965 to the late, Atlena West and Donnell Harper in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was the only girl out of five boys.
Janine came to California as a toddler and was raised in Berkeley where she resided with her mother and brothers. She discovered Christ at an early age and became a member of Berkeley Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Janine graduated from Berkeley High School in 1983, and attended Laney College, where she received her Associate’s Degree in 1986. During this time, Janine met Danny Wilson and the two brought a beautiful child to the world, Jasaray Denise Wilson in 1987. The two eventually parted ways, but remained good friends and strong co-parents to Janine’s one and only daughter.
Over the years, Janine worked for several hotel chains throughout the Bay Area. During this time, she met the love of her life, John Bradford, who she remained with for over 20 years. In 1997, Janine began her career at The John Stewart Company, ranked the largest property management company in California. Starting out as a desk clerk, eager to advance her skills, Janine advanced to a Lead Maintenance Supervisor position, overseeing a 169-unit property becoming the first African American female with this title. Janine connected with many people through warmth and laughter. A phenomenal and caring woman, she touched many and loved each person through her faith in God. Janine made her peaceful transition from this world with her daughter, Jasaray by her side, and on November 6, 2017, fell into the arms of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ.
Janine is preceded in death by her mother Atlena West and brother Donnie West. She leaves to mourn her brothers Luther West, Sr., Charles West, Sr., Michael West, Sr., John D.
