Janet garnered many close and loving friends over the course of her long life and shared her interests in antiques, art, flowers and her culinary talents with all of them; often entertaining at her home on Scenic Avenue in Piedmont. She had a special affinity for all things Royal and bore an uncanny resemblance to Queen Elizabeth II.
Janet served on many community and philanthropic boards and once headed a delegation to the White House as President of the Oakland Junior League in 1953. Of particular importance to Janet was her devotion to, and membership in, St Peter’s Episcopal Church in Oakland where she served on the Altar Guild and as a volunteer for various church affairs.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Piedmont Gardens where she received loving care over the last 3 years.
Per Janet’s request, a Requiem Mass will be held Thursday, February 27th at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 6013 Lawton Avenue, Oakland, CA 94618. In lieu of flowers, you may wish to make a memorial contribution to St Peter’s Episcopal Church.
