Jane Yoke LewAugust 16, 1937-August 27, 2010Resident of NewarkJane Lew passed away suddenly on Friday, August 27, 2010. She leaves behind her beloved husband and lifelong companion, Hubert Jr., with whom she had just celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary and her 73rd birthday. Jane and Hubert enjoyed many years of retirement together, spending much of their time traveling.Jane was born on August 16, 1937, near Guangzhou (Canton), China. She immigrated to the U.S. in 1947, grew up in Oakland, California, and eventually became a naturalized United States citizen. She was a retired bookkeeper and 38-year resident of Newark, CA, where she raised three daughters, Denise Lew of Burke, VA; Elise Lamberson of Tualatin, OR; and Clarise Lew of Fremont, CA. She is also survived by her three grandchildren, Leslie Beatrice of Annapolis, MD, and Trevor and Daria Lamberson of Tualatin OR; son-in-law James Lamberson of Tualatin, OR; brother Wilson Leong of Oakland, CA; and sisters, Eva Konecny of Newark, CA, and Yvonne Wun of Burlingame, CA. Jane filled her children's lives with love and caring, keeping her family close and always worrying about them even as they grew into adulthood. Thank you so much for blessing us with your love, devotion, and constant guidance and support throughout our lives. We love you and will miss you dearly.May she rest in peace as she joins our Father in heaven, and may God provide us strength and comfort in knowing she lives in our hearts and will continue to watch over us.Services will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2010, at Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, CA 94611, 510-654-0123.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to "Newark Betterment Corporation," to be sent to: Senior Services at the Silliman Center, c/o Kelly Hess, 6800 Mowry Avenue, Newark, CA, 94560, 510-578-4845.
