James Edward Weathers' Obituary
James E. Weathers passed away on 1/21/2012 due to kidney cancer. James was born 1/2/1947, he lived most of his life in Alameda County and was a resident of the City of Alameda at the time of his passing. In his youth he attended and graduated from Castlemont High School in Oakland in 1965, then attended Merritt College earning his Associate Degree.James served in the Army for three years, including a year in Vietnam. After an Honorable discharge from the military James went to work at Social Security, through the years he received numerous awards and recognitions for outstanding service. He retired from the Regional Office of Social Security Administration in Richmond Ca after more than 35 years. James also worked part-time as a concession stand manager at the Oakland Coliseum for more than 25 years. He absolutely loved working at the Coliseum because it allowed him to interact with many people ' he was a true 'people person' he loved people and people loved him. James was also known as the Cake Man, because he baked the most delicious cakes, he was actually an all around great cook and often gave big parties inviting friends and coworkers to come together to enjoy good food all of which he prepared, and just have a good time. James leaves to mourn his passing his partner of 45 years, Herman Levias, nieces, nephews, a number of close and loving friends, and a huge number of acquaintances. Interment will be at The Chapel of the Chimes Oakland. A funeral service will not be held.
