James Mebane…he was a kind hearted funny and loving person. I will also remember him being the life of the party. I will always remember how when my daughter Stacey was a little girl he told her to give him some suga and she said no that it was her daddy's suga and he picked her up and gave her a kiss on the cheek and said to her to tell her daddy that James Mebane took some of his suga. To this day we laugh about and remember fond memories of that time and many more. You will always hold a special place in our hearts my brother. May your soul rest in peace . I know you are up there cut it up, especially with Mr Miller. He loved him some James Mebane!!!

James was and is a special light in all of our lives. He made my Mom laugh at the Scotlan Christmas parties every year. When she passed he came by with beautiful flowers and that big smile. I can say my sister and I never felt so good in our grief. He talked for an hour straight and we laughed and remembered mom. He made her passing tolerable. He is truly a gift and I will cherish all the smiles he gave us.Juliette Dunn

I didn't know James well, that is to say I had met him on a couple of different occasions at social gatherings. But James was the kind of person you didn't need to know well to like him. In fact, he epitomized that rare character and personality that was instantly likeable. You knew from the moment you shook his hand and exchanged greetings that if circumstances allowed, here was a friendship in the making. We never became great friends and that is my loss. I know Jeannette much better (James was smart enough to marry her but, I was smart enough to hire her) as we have been coworkers at the Bank for many years and it deeply saddens me that she will not be sharing this next phase of her life with James. To the Mebane FamilyI met James in 1975. We had just moved to Union City and didn't know anyone. Tom our neighbor had a house warming party where we met James and Jeanette. We hit it off and became crazy good friends immediately. We were attached at the hip and I thought I was special, but as everyone knows James made everyone feel special.The dump runs, yard work with all the neighbors, Cattlemens, the basketball team, weekend parties, trips to Tahoe (Temptations), James meeting Patricia's Father and 1000 other memories that I can share. James was very special, my Mother loved James as well as my sisters. James embraced everybody with open arms and treated everyone like family. I never met James but had the pleasure of knowing and working with Jeanette for a number of years. Jeanette was certainly someone who made an impact on my life and I can imagine by association James was an extraordinary person as well. As I read some of the other posts it became obvious to me that he was a remarkable man who deeply cared about his family and those whose life he touched. Jeanette, James, Jamal & Family,I know your hearts are heavy as are ours. He will always be a part of every life that he touched, and you know there where many. A very fun loving person that was truly a joy to be around. We've been like family for the past forty years and its so very hard to see him go, but as God would have it, it was his time to leave us, but just for a while, for we will all see each other again and what a glorious time it will be.
