James Edward Hummer's Obituary
James Edward Hummer, "Jamie" to his family and friends, passed away in his sleep June 6, 2022 in Oakland, CA. Jamie was the 11th out of 12 children born to John and Carol Hummer in Santa Monica, CA. Jamie was one of a kind, everyone would agree.
Jamie attended Santa Monica High School and followed his education with culinary school and learned the art of being a remarkable chef and cook.
Anyone who knew Jamie benefited from his cooking. He was also the one you contacted if you needed anything repaired. He loved to fish and he was a passionate lover of all animals. Jamie also had a "green thumb" and could bring the simplest cutting to life. Jamie has been an artist for many years and left us with paintings to treasure. He lived life to the fullest and leaves a hole in the heart of those who loved him. Jamie was generous with his time and love which he shared often.
James is survived by his siblings, John, Ann Montgomery, David (Ellen) , Michael (Elizabeth), Julie Anderson (Michael), Mary Mickela (Russell), Joseph (Sharon), Patrick (Suzi), Christopher, Katherine Osti (Christopher), Jeannie Castro (Enrique) and dozens of nieces, nephews. and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022 at 10:00 am at St. Sebastian Church, 1411 Federal Ave, Los Angeles, CA. Inurnment will immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 5835 W. Slauson Ave, Culver City, CA.
