James Robert (Bob) BlairNovember 16, 1919 ' February 25, 2012Resident of Rossmoor (Walnut Creek), Kensington, Piedmont Beloved husband and lifetime partner of Elizabeth (Pat) Gidney Blair, died at the age of 92. A picture of health and playing golf once a week up until September of 2011, he was suddenly and unexpectedly struck with lung cancer. He passed away peacefully in his own home surrounded by his relatives and neighbors, who helped him through his last months. Bob was born on Ronada Ave in Piedmont Calif. He attended Piedmont Schools from Havens thru Piedmont High School and graduated in 1937. He then attended Saint Mary's College 1938-40 where he played on the 'Golf and Tennis Teams'. In 1940 he was at the University of California where he was in the Civilian Pilot training program and learned to fly at the Oakland Air Post. He obtained a commercial pilot's license with an instructors rating. In 1941 he enlisted in the Army Air Corp. where he served as a flying instructor until the war ended in 1945. He married his beloved wife, Pat, in 1944. He met Pat on a blind date in 1938 while at Saint Mary's College. He worked in the accounting department of the Pacific Telephone Company in San Francisco for 33 years and retired in 1982. Bob and Pat enjoyed many years of traveling and cruising throughout the world and United States. Golf, travel, and entertaining their many friends at home were their joys and reciprocally their friends were blessed with them. Bob was a charter member of the Richmond Golf and Country Club for forty-four years and lived in Kensington for forty-three years. In 1993, he moved to Rossmoor in Walnut Creek where he joined the SIR's club and the Golf Club. Bob's son, Dean, of Sacramento, died in November 2011, and he is survived by his loving wife and daughter, both residing in (Rossmoor), Walnut Creek, California.There will be no services.
