JACKIE SANDEN's Obituary
Jacqueline 'Jackie' Sanden December 25, 1940 – January 20, 2007 Jackie passed away peacefully at home with her companion of 18 years, Kay McKeown, at her side. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thelma and John. Jackie will be eternally missed as a generous, kind and sincere person who loved to share fun with her many friends. Wherever Jackie went she made friends and retained them throughout her life. Born and raised in Oakland, Jackie graduated from Oakland Technical High School and belonged to the Oakland Ice Skating Club that met at Iceland in Berkeley. She graduated from Dominican College in New Orleans, LA and taught there as well as in New Mexico with the Catholic Lay Volunteer Mission. After 30 years service, Jackie retired as Assistant Chief of the Public Guardian/Conservator's Office in 2000. During retirement, Jackie travelled to many countries and spent annual vacations at the Russian River and visiting Sonoma County wineries. She loved to cook and entertain friends at her warm and hospitable home. Jackie was a long-time member of the Berkeley-Richmond Intercity Ministry (B.R.I.M.) community. Following the Oakland A's baseball team was another passion of Jackie's and she had season tickets for many years. Jackie will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 17 at 10am at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Ave., Oakland. In lieu of flowers, donations would be appreciated to Sutter VNA and Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
