Iznola Marie Adams' Obituary
Iznola Marie Adams was born on October 26, 1917 to Alfred and Mary Herdon in Louisiana. She was the youngest of thirteen children. When she as a young child, her family moved to Porter, Oklahoma. Iznola graduated from Manual Training High School in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1936 and entered Langston University in Langston, Oklahoma graduating with a Bachelor of Art’s degree in English. After graduating from college, she married Leo H. Adams and migrated to Oakland, California in 1942. To this union two children, a daughter, Judith and a son, Brain, were born. She was a devoted and caring mother to her children.
After arriving in Oakland, Iznola found employment with the Oakland Naval Supply Center. She later worked for the City and County of San Francisco Housing Authority and retired after thirty years of service. She started as a clerk and at the end of her career was a leasing agent inspecting and showing rental units throughout the city of San Francisco.
Iznola enjoyed many friendships over the years. Affectionately known as “Ike” to her friends, she was a warm, fun loving, and generous person. She was a member of the Oklahoma Club and the Langston University Alumni Club. While retired, she enjoyed traveling and trips to Reno and Lake Tahoe, but most of all she enjoyed being with friends and family.
She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Judith A. Adams, nephew Ray Herndon of Maize, Kansas, sister-in-law, Ludora Herndon of Wichita, Kansas, and a host of other relative and friends. She was predeceased by her son Brian H. Adams, her parents and her brothers and sisters.
