Hun Kuen Lee Wong's Obituary
Lee Wong, Hun Kuen, 89, of Oakland, died on February 16, 2014 in Oakland Rehabilitation Center in Oakland, California.
Born to the late Mr. and Mrs. Wong Lai-Ting on September 20, 1924 in Hong Kong, Hun Kuen was the eldest of her 12 siblings. She graduated from Pui Doe Secondary School in China before attending nursing training in Fong Bang Hospital in Canton, China. In 1945, she married the late Yu-Chong Lee in Kwan Ming, China and moved to Hong Kong in 1947, where they raised six children. In 1992, Hun Kuen and late husband immigrated to the United States.
As a mother, housewife, and a nurse, Hun Kuen dedicated her life to serving the needs and well-being of others. She was a pillar of the Lee family, helping others with personal and medical problems. Her virtues, such as her altruism, determination, rectitude and generosity won her great respect from her relatives and friends.
Hun Kuen was a pious Christian and a frequent lector at Sunday service in Hong Kong St. Peter’s Church and Episcopal Church of our Saviour in Oakland. In her spare time, she loved playing Mahjong with friends and relatives.
Hun Kuen is survived by five children (Margaret, Grace, Esmond, Thomas and Dominic). She is also survived by six grandchildren (Ricky, Kenneth, Jason, Megan, Jana and Casey) and on great-grandchild (Kaius).
