Hisako Kanzaki's Obituary
Hisako Kanzaki, 94, of Hayward, California, passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2021.
Hisako was born in Fukuoka, Japan on January 23, 1927. She married her childhood friend Hiromu Kanzaki in Japan on December 23, 1957 and immigrated by ship to the United States in 1958. After residing in Castro Valley and Los Gatos, Hisako and her husband settled in Hayward in 1964 to raise their two children.
Hisako was a dedicated homemaker and bookkeeper in her husband’s landscaping business. She also spent 10 years as a patternmaker for a metal casting company in San Leandro, CA, before retiring in 1984.
Hisako was a talented seamstress and knitter and enjoyed creating beautiful pieces for her family.
In addition to trips to Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Canada (she loved Banff National Park), Hisako also traveled with family and friends to Hawaii, New York, Washington D.C., and Japan.
In her later years, Hisako suffered a mild stroke and battled rectal cancer. She faced both conditions with courage and strength and amazed her family with her resilience.
She is survived by Hiromu, her husband of 63 years, and her children, Amy and Kenneth.
Her family cherishes the time they had with her in her final days and wishes to thank the staff at Hope Hospice for their care and compassion.
Her husband misses her dearly, but is comforted by the 80 years of wonderful memories.
