Henry Hom's Obituary
Henry Hom, born February 15, 1930 in Inverness, California, passed away peacefully at home on March 8th, 2022. His daughter Pamela, and his cherished caregiver, Demetree were with him at the time of his passing. Henry was the son of father Gin Hom and mother Mashee Yuen Hom. He was the third youngest in a family of eight children: Noel Young, Joe Hom, Edie Newhart, Jim Hom, Alyce Wu, Lotus Now, and Ken Hom. He, like his siblings, enjoyed large family gatherings where there was aways lots of food and laughter.
Henry attended San Francisco State College where he met his wife, Lourdes. They were married for 68 years until Lourdes passed in November, 2021. Henry was an “American Dreamer” who tried his hand at multiple careers, primarily as a real estate agent, but also as the owner of a chocolate manufacturing business, and after retiring, as a representative of Hershey chocolate.
Henry always had a ready smile and was known to be somewhat of a jokester. He loved taking long drives often ending at one of his favorite destinations: a casino. He also loved traveling to the East Coast to visit his daughters and grandson, or to his beloved islands of Hawaii. He enjoyed tending to his tomato plants every year, and loved eating and sharing his prolific crop with family and friends.
Family was Henry’s priority and he was dedicated to his wife, Lourdes, whom he loved with all his heart and to his daughter Pamela Hom, his daughter Valerie Brennan and her husband Kevin Brennan, and to his grandson and namesake, Henry MacDonald.
