Dear Aunty Manette, David, Pauline & FamilyIt is with extraordinary sadness that we have learnt of Uncle Ricky’s sudden passing even though he had been suffering from Parkinson’s for a long while – May he now have eternal peace and rest in Heaven together with Our Dear Lord and be reunited with our beloved Mom who holds him, ‘her special baby brother’ very dear.He was Dad’s favourite brother-in-law and our favourite uncle/godfather and we will always remember him as an amazingly sweet, gentle and playful person with always a twinkle in his eye and a cheerful smile on his face. It is with much sadness to learn the passing of Uncle Ricky, or as he always insists for us to simply call him Ricky. Even today, I have problem to do that. It is the sign of respect that I have brought been brought up with.Uncle Ricky is not only my Mom´s favorite brother, but also my God Father, whom I had always, and will always cherish and look up to him. I believe this was the best decision my parent had made. He is my hero, in every sense of the word. He is a caring, loving, and gentle and soft-spoken person. Yet, he is a fighter and very determined person. He is never afraid of challengers, and very competitive. He excel in various sports, such as fencing, archery, and vesper rallies, which he won many races and trophies on the steep and winding slopes of Hong Kong. Yes, he was a dare-devil, taking what could be termed as unnecessary risks.When he left Hong Kong for San Francisco, I was so fortunate to receive his wooden bow which he used for archery, his French foil and some other equipment which he used for fencing. I guess no one was more proud and delighted that I was. He was, and is my hero.I am also one of the lucky one that he took me for a ride in his Vesper, speeding down from the Bank Flat, and Waterloo Road in Hong Kong. What is trilling afternoon, which I always will remember!I will be travelling from Copenhagen to attend his Memorial Mass on Monday 20th May, and bid him a final farewell, and to personally convey my deep and heartfelt condolences to Aunty Manette, Pauline and David and to their families.
