Helen Marie Von Eitzen
July 3, 1916 – Sept. 5, 2013
Resident of Walnut Creek and formerly of Richmond Helen passed away peacefully on Thursday at the age of 97. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy. She is survived by her daughter, Sue Phillips, and son-in-law, Claude Phillips both of Concord, granddaughters Kathleen Crisp of Antioch and J. Zoey Trenkle of Colchester, Vermont, and great grandsons Alan Crisp of Orem, Utah, and Joe Crisp of Rohnert Park. She was a long-time member of St. James Lutheran Church in Richmond where she served as usher, prepared the altar for communion and was known for serving her famous “snickerdoodles” at coffee hour after church. She also enjoyed traveling to Reno for overnight gambling excursions with the Richmond Annex Senior Center. She was a member of the Eastern Star, Vista Cerrito Chapter #178 O.E.S. At her own request, there will be no funeral service for Helen. She has been cremated and will be placed next to her husband at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland. A Celebration of Life is planned for early November. Memorials can be made to the Lions Club or the charity of your choice.
