Helen Mei Lin Eng's Obituary
Helen Mei Lin Eng was born to immigrant parents, Yook Faye Ng and Yook Won Shew in San Francisco, California on February 8, 1927. She is preceded in death by elder siblings, Fred Eng (Ruth), James Eng (Emilie), Daisy Leong (Lee). She is the beloved mother of Kathleen (Neal Ouye), Steve, Janine and Kimberlyn ( Michael Noel), and the beloved grandmother of Kai Lin Ouye and Jacquelyn Christine, Sarah Grace and John Michael Noel. She treasured all of her many nieces, nephews and extended family. She awaited reuniting with her beloved, Joe in Heaven.
Helen enjoyed gardening and was famous for getting any plant especially vegetables, mums and orchids to thrive. She was also a talented seamstress, taking after her father, and was the creator of many a prom dress or play romper complete with matching Barbie doll outfit. She loved cooking for her family (and even Moki) and loved to celebrate family gatherings with a chiffon cake or lemon meringue pie. She shared her love of Chinese cooking through home based cooking lessons.
Despite many challenges in her lifetime Helen raised her family to stay together and take care of each other. In her later years as a resident of assisted living, she brought sunshine and smiles to everyone. Her musical and artistic talents flourished as did her faith in Christ. Helen will be missed by the many friends and family who loved her dearly.
