Heather A Porter's Obituary
Heather Ann Porter, 37, of Oakland, California, passed away surrounded by her family on November 12, 2024. She was born on May 26, 1987, to Dianne and Kennith, in Wurzburg, Germany. She married Dustin Hall on May 13, 2022.
Heather was a loving daughter, partner, sister, aunt, and friend. She lived her life courageously and independently while prioritizing those she loved in everything she did. Her huge heart, fierce intelligence, and generous spirit brought joy to all who knew her. Her brilliant smile, immense kindness, and contagious sense of humor were treasured by her family and friends.
A talented and accomplished writer, Heather earned several degrees in English and Creative Writing, culminating in an M.F.A. from San Francisco State University. She worked as a UX Content Design Manager at Ladder Life Insurance in Palo Alto, California.
Heather is survived by her husband, Dustin; her parents, Dianne Gregory and Kennith Porter; her step-mother, Angie Porter; her sister, Holly Althof; her nephews and nieces, Liam, Isla, Emlyn, and Rowen Althof; her step-sisters, Carrie Scroggins and Nina Preston; and her dearest friends, Natasha Foote and Jessica Loftus, along with many other beloved friends and family.
A memorial service will be held at 1pm on December 7, 2024, in the Julia Morgan Chapel at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland, California 94611. The service will be streamed at https://www.econdolence.com/xc2etsf9. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Iowa.
