Glenn Bailey-Bryant's Obituary
GLENN BAILEY-BRYANT passed away on April 20th, 2023, peacefully at home in Oakland California.
Glenn was born May 17,1942 in Lisbon, Louisiana to parents Idell Bryant and Jim Bailey. Glenn was the fourth child and only son to Idell Bryant as he had three sisters, beloved Pauline who preceded his death, Marie, and Merdis with whom he shared a special bond and a host of nieces and nephews.
Idell and all four children relocated to California when Glenn was 11 years of age. Glenn went on to thrive and attend school at Prescott Elementary and McClymonds High School in Oakland CA where he would develop friendships that lasted a lifetime.
As an adult Glenn worked in the chemical plant at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals. At the introduction of his nieces, he met and married Jacqueline “Jackie” Jones June of 1970, he would then become the proud stepfather to Lynetta, Sonja, Joe and Toy-Terrell. In May of 1971 Jacqueline and Glenn would then welcome their daughter Idell Bailey to the world completing their family unit.
Glenn soon would encounter a life changing event that compromised his freedom, but Glenn never wavered in his zest for life as he continued building and maintaining special relationships with so many. Glenn was a gentle giant and to know him was to simply love him, as he you.
In April of 2012, Glenn had the Blessing of a new chapter in life, one that would afford him the time and opportunity to extend himself in many directions of positive engagements. Glenn had a passion for the betterment of his community, but he also remained hopeful that the world would find endless harmony.
This isn’t Mr. B’s ending. When the sun rises each morning, I trust Glenn has placed a wish upon it that each of us find a moment to bask in the sunlight and shine.
Rest my Love, you are forever near and dear.
One Love…
