Giuseppe Agatino Maria Artale's Obituary
Giuseppe was born in Catania, Sicily and raised near Rome. He considered himself Sicilian as both his parents were from Sicily. As a teenager, he moved to California to live with his sister’s family in Santa Rosa where he attended Montgomery high school. He went back to Italy to complete his military service and then later relocated to Santa Rosa to be near his sister Silvana and nephew Robert.
In his early adult years, Giuseppe worked for the California Department of Forestry. His career then took him back to Italy to work at Sigonella Navel Air Station during the Gulf War. Afterward, he pursued a degree in accounting, which led to various management positions in the field. Later in his career, Giuseppe transitioned to a nonprofit transportation company, where he held one of his favorite jobs transporting elderly and disabled adults.
Giuseppe was an exceptional cook, often recreating his mother’s recipes and other traditional Sicilian dishes, as well as inventing his own recipes. He loved the outdoors and spent much of his free time hiking, camping and fishing. He and his future wife Denise met on a hike and fell in love. He quickly became a beloved member of her family, which also became his family. He was a loving and supportive husband and Denise and Giuseppe made many wonderful memories travelling and cooking together during their ten-year partnership.
Known for his kindness and compassion, Giuseppe was always ready to help those in need. His family and friends could always count on him for support and care. His generous spirit and loving nature is deeply missed by all who knew him.
