Geraldine King's Obituary
Geraldine King was born in West Virginia in 1920, the third of 4 sisters. After graduating from the University of West Virginia with a bachelor’s degree, she came
west to Oakland in 1945. Here she met the love of her life, Glen King, who preceded her in death in 1992. They soon married. Glen was a well-known Bay Area radio personality, advertising executive, columnist and author. After working briefly for the Department of Agriculture in Albany, Geraldine settled down to become a
devoted wife and the loving mother to 3 sons, Michael and Stephen (now deceased) and Sean. Over the years she assisted her husband by helping him to edit many of his writing projects. As a home economics major, Geraldine was a wonderful cook. And her kind, warm personality endeared her to many. She loved classic movies and history. Also, she kept up with current events by watching TV news programs, and documentaries as well as listening to radio talk shows. In addition she enjoyed a wide variety of music ranging from popular Big Band -era tunes to selections from Broadway musicals and the hits of Frank Sinatra, Julio Iglesias, Vikki Carr, Al Hirt, Andy Williams, etc. But, perhaps most important, she was always ready to generously give advice, love and support to her family and friends. She will be greatly missed by all who experienced the light of her very special personality. Geraldine is survived by her son, Sean, daughter-in-law Violeta, sister Charlotte in West Virginia and nephew Frank in Washington, DC.
