Geraldine Burt's Obituary
Geraldine Burt was born to parents Amanda Rosa Stevenson and Byron McGavock (deceased) on September 2nd, 1931, in Nashville, TN. She departed this life on March 23, 2024 in Oakland, California. She was preceded in death by daughters Luzetta Davis and Connie Irene Davis; husbands Marshall Jones, Eugene Davis, and Monroe Burt;; sisters, Neva Brooks, Una Slaughter, LaClaudia Stevenson and Elizabeth McGavock; brothers, Byron McGavock Jr. (Wink) and Eugene Stevenson.
Her education was obtained in Davidson County Schools in Nashville, TN. She worked as a dietician at Riverside Hospital, Nashville, TN. She traveled to Alexandria, VA and worked as Care Provider for Singer, Roberta Flack.
She professed her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and joined Meharry Seven Day Adventist church and Hillcrest Seventh Day Adventist Church in Nashville, TN.
She moved to California in 1977. In California she attended Market Street Seventh Day Adventist church before she moved her membership to Elmhurst Seventh Day Adventist church. She was a devoted Christian all of her life and reached out to anyone in need of assistance.
She loved making her yard beautiful placing her focus on the rose bushes, lemon and peach trees. She had a skill set in sewing and she utilized her talents in making alterations for her neighbors. She was gifted with a God given talent of having an angelic voice and she used it to sing praises to God. Every Sabbath after church she would fellowship with her neighbors by passing out missionary pamphlet and ending with prayer.
She leaves behind many to rejoice in her memories. Brother James “Petie” Stevenson; Children; Marshall Jones Jr.; Marshia Chambers; Eugenie “Jeannie” Smith Scruggs (Carney); Brendolyn Randolph (Antonio); and Lydia Bradford. She leaves to mourn a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews.
