Georgia Lee's Obituary
Georgia Lee, 86, of Oakland, CA, peacefully passed on September 22nd, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Georgia Lee was born Georgia Chew on February, 22, 1935 in Oakland, CA to parents Chew Wah On and Lum Foon Ho Chew. After graduating Oakland High School, where she was a commencement speaker of her graduation ceremony, Georgia began work as a legal secretary, a career she would continue to enjoy until the onset of the pandemic. Georgia worked in the offices of Oakland and Berkeley City Attorneys, and for more than 40 years for the law firm currently known as Andrada and Associates.
Georgia traveled throughout her life, having lived in 4 countries. Her love of travel inspired her to visit all 7 continents and more than 85 countries. Georgia also greatly loved folk dancing, and as an active member of Berkeley Folk Dancers for more than 3 decades, she attended folk dance events in the US and abroad.
Georgia Lee was predeceased by siblings Randall Chew, Henry Chew, Harry Chew, Mary Lim and Anna Tsang. Georgia is survived by her brother Walter Chew; her son Michael Lee, his wife Sarah Lee and their sons Joshua Lee, Noah Lee, and Morgan Lee; her son David Lee, his wife Gina Lewis-Lee and their daughter Emma Lee; and her former husband Clarence Lee.
Services will be held at Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland CA, on Saturday, October 23, 2pm. If attending the ceremony in person, please be fully vaccinated and wear a mask. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society.
