George Ging Young's Obituary
George Ging Young, 82, of Fremont, passed away on October 20, 2023.
He was born in Hong Kong on December 18, 1940. He emigrated to the United States in 1956. George graduated from Galileo High School, and received an Associate Arts degree from San Francisco City College and a Bachelor of Science in Biological Science from Oregon State University.
He married Marlee Young on September 10, 1967 in Berkeley.
For 32 years George had a career in Environmental Health for Alameda County where he rose to the position of Supervising Environmental Health Specialist.
He was a member of the Alameda County Mosquito Abatement District, the Pacific Rim Traveling Group, and the Fremont Senior Center at Lake Elizabeth. George had many passions including Tai Chi, Chinese calligraphy, gardening, pruning and grafting trees, cooking, traveling, spending time with his family and grandchildren, studying the stock market, and watching YouTube cooking videos.
He is survived by his wife, Marlee Young; his children Karen Young, Erick Young, Christie Pollet-Young, daughter-in-law Thu Pham; his grandchildren Miles Pollet-Young, Charlotte Pollet-Young, Adalyn Young and Rylan Young; his sister Sue Fong, and many beloved nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces.
A memorial with military honors will be held at noon on Saturday, November 4, 2023 at the Chapel of the Chimes in Oakland, CA followed by the burial at Mountain View Cemetery in Oakland, CA.
