George Yiu-Lang Luo
George Yiu-Lang Luo, 83, died on Saturday morning, March 2, 2019, at his nursing home in Oakland. George was born April 16, 1935 in Guangdong, China, the eldest son of Luo Kung Ming (father) and Lin Hui Mei (mother).
Following the Chinese Communist Revolution in 1949, George, age 14, accompanied his father to Taiwan, where he graduated from the China Institute of Technology with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a military engineer in the Taiwanese Marine Corp, rising to the rank of Major and station of Liaison Officer for military arsenals. George married Amy Jui-Yen Fan in 1962. The couple had two children.
George retired from the military in 1969 and moved his family to Indonesia to join his mother, brother Lee Jin Liang, and stepfather. He came to the United States in 1971 to study at the University of Missouri-Rolla, earning a Master of Business Administration. With this business degree, George returned to Indonesia and became General Manager of a textile factory. He retired in 1980 to join his family in San Francisco, CA.
During his retirement, George developed a passion and expertise for Chinese Astrology. He has presented his findings at lectures in San Francisco and New York. He enjoyed the many visitors at his home for consultations on their astrological charts.
George is survived by his wife Amy, daughter Anna of Sunnyvale, son Philip of Alameda, and grandsons Carter and Edward of Alameda.
